Daddy Trailer Review By Farishtey Faroodi | Arjun Rampal

A few months after the teaser of upcoming film ‘Daddy’, which is based on the life of former don Arun Gawli, was unveiled by the makers of the film, the trailer of the movie was released last night.

Featuring Arjun Rampal as dreaded don Arun Gawli a.k.a ‘Daddy’, the trailer of the movie offers a glimpse of the state of the city in the 70s and how the rising unemployment gave rise to the city underworld. The trailer shows how Gawli, a boy from the ghetto of Dagdi Chawl, became a force to be reckoned with in the Mumbai underworld and later found a foothold in politics, but was perpetually hounded by a relentless cop (played by Nishikant Kamat).

The tone of the trailer is quite dark and grim and as Arjun has never played such a role before, it would be interesting to see how the hunky actor pulls this off. What works for Arjun is the fact that he bears an uncanny resemblance to Gawli with his lanky frame and horseshoe moustache, though his dialogue delivery may not seem authentic.

Directed by Ashim Ahluwalia, ‘Daddy’ is slated to release on July 21.
