The bowler who outsmarted Sachin Tendulkar and managed to get the Master register his first First-Class duck in Indian domestic cricket is India’s hope for the future. While Bhuvneshwar Kumar would not want to be remembered for that achievement, one cannot ignore the fact that the then 18-year old Bhuvneshwar had outfoxed the wisest monk of the monastery. His ability to think on his feet, coupled with his ability to move the ball both ways, make Bhuvneshwar a dangerous customer with the new ball and a captain’s favourite.
Bhuvneshwar bowls at a nippy pace with the new ball, and can be depended upon more often than not for the early breakthrough. Bhuvneshwar had the brightest of starts to his international career when he bowled Nasir Jamshed in his very first over on T20I debut. He had equally great starts to his One-Day International (ODI) and Test careers as well. In 2013, he played a crucial role for India during their triumph at the ICC Champions Trophy and the tri-series against West Indies and Sri Lanka in the Caribbean.

The season saw Bhuvneshwar establish himself in the international stage. His six wickets at an average of 22.83 earned him a place in the tournament XI of the Champions Trophy 2013. He has also been fairly successful in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
