Gunday box office collection: Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor's action thriller rakes in over Rs 40 crore in its first weekend!
by

With Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Irrfan Khan starrer Gunday doing well at the ticket windows, the dry run at the box office for Bollywood films has finally come to an end. Except for Salman Khan's Jai Ho, hardly any films which released in 2014 did great business at the box office. But Gunday isn't one of them. Director Ali Abbas Zafar's film succeeded in pulling the crowds to the theaters and we are pretty sure team Gunday must be happy with its first weekend collection which is approximately over Rs 40 crore. Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adrash tweeted, "Gunday Fri 16.12 cr, Sat 12.63 cr, Sun 15.18 cr. Total -- 43.93 cr nett. India biz only. Excellent!"

According to Boxofficeindia, "Gunday had a good weekend as it collected around 40.25 crore nett over its first weekend. The film was good in most circuits with only Mysore really underperforming. There was a drop on Saturday but that was partly because the first day had collections that were a little higher than they would have been normally due to Valentine's Day. The business in multiplexes across India was better than single screens despite it being an action masala film. The film is a success but it is the weekdays that will tell if the film can become a major hit."

This Yash Raj film could very well enter the Rs 100 club if it continues its good run at the box office. But Imtiaz Ali's much awaited film Highway starring Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda will hit the screens this week. So it would be tough for Gunday to sustain in the coming weekend wethinks.
