Ungli box office collection Emraan Hashmi starrer fails to cross Rs 10 crore in the opening weeken

Ungli directed by Rensil D’Silva starring Emraan Hashmi, Kangana Ranaut, Randeep Hooda and Sanjay Dutt in the lead released last Friday. Though the film had created good buzz, going by the box office figures it seems Karan Johar’s production venture couldn’t pull crowds to the cinema halls. Even Shraddha Kapoor’s much-talked about item number Dance Basanti hasn’t helped the film much. On day 1, the Emraan-Kangana starrer got off to a sluggish start and though early estimates suggested that the film would make Rs 4 crore approximately on Friday, it only managed to collect around Rs 3 crore. While the scenario was pretty much the same on Saturday, on Sunday the collections went up a bit.

According to Boxofficeindia, “Ungli had a very poor weekend as it failed to gross even 10 crore nett over the weekend. The collections were lower than Emraan Hashmi’s last film Raja Natwarlal which grossed 14 crore nett. The industry has seen two back to back box office disasters with Happy Ending and now Ungli. The weekend business of Ungli is as follows: Friday – Rs 2.75 crore, Saturday – 2.90 crore and Sunday – Rs 3.60 crore.”

This means the total domestic collection of Ungli as of now stands at Rs 9.25 crore.
