Kullu and Mandi districts were the epicentre of the catastrophe from July 8 to 11 as unprecedented high precipitation led to the raging Beas river and its tributaries damaging infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, houses and vehicles. A substantial portion of the Chandigarh-Manali four-lane project was washed away, leaving more than 70,000 people stranded, who were evacuated in an operation spanning four days. Forty-two people died in the disaster, while many are still missing. The continuous rains in many states of the country are still increasing the difficulties of the people, the situation is not good in Delhi NCR.
