The Junagarh Fort is situated in Gujarat. It has rock edicts, set up by Ashoka, the Great Indian emperor, dating back 2200 years. The fort is girdled by a wall, which is over 20 m and is virtually inaccessible. The fort is around 1200 years old and was built by king Ugrasen. The fort bore witness to the 12-year long war between Sidharaj Jaisingh, the king of Gujarat, and Rakhengar, the king of Junagadh, over queen Ranakdevi. It is visited all year round by a large number of tourists.
