Picture the universe. It is made up of millions of galaxies known and unknown to mankind. In relation to that, the Milky Way is simply a speck of dust. In that galaxy, our solar system is a smaller speck. Within that is the Earth, covered three-fourth by water and one-fourth by land, housing billions of species. Humanity is a negligible blip in relation to that; so, imagine how tiny a single human must be in cosmic terms.

Yet, as human beings, we can make a significant contribution to the universe by merely being who we are, Mahatria says. Every person is unique, is one of a kind, who cannot be cloned again by the universe. Even in the case of identical twins, there are differences.

Keeping the enormity of the universe in mind, the idea of two individual specks of dust coming together is a wondrous concept, Mahatria says. Two people who are currently married could have very easily missed each other. A hundred other situations could have occurred to keep them apart – many people may have had past relationships that fell through, or other reasons why certain unions did not work out. Yet now, two people are wedded.

The Cosmic Communion

The sanctity of that relationship needs to be maintained, He emphasizes. Any thought or idea that threatens that relationship has to be quashed. The one relationship that you will carry to the end of your life is that union. In such a relationship, there should be no hesitation in letting the other person know how much they mean to you.

Instead of glorifying weddings and spending crores of money on a single occasion, you should consider putting that effort into a marriage. A wedding is just a few days of extravagance; the real show begins following that.

You need to acknowledge that you are who you are because of a significant influence of your spouse. Just like you have to accept your body for what it is, live with your face and body the way it is, accept that your parents cannot be changed and your children are your own for life, you need to accept your spouse as a permanent part of your life, Mahatria says. They cannot be exchanged or given up on.

Marriage is a sacred relationship and its sanctity needs to be upheld.
