Puran Poli is a sweet Indian flatbread stuffed with a sweet lentil filling and made during some auspicious occasions like Diwali, Gudi Padwa, Navratri and Holi but I love to enjoy this delicacy any time of the year!

1 cup Tuvar Daal (chana dal can be used or mixed of both as well)
¼ tsp turmeric (Optional)
¼ tsp salt, if desired
3 cup water (If daal is soaked, 2 cups of water)
1 tsp oil
1 cup jaggery / gud
¼ tsp jaiphal powder / nutmeg powder
¼ tsp cardamom powder / elachi powder
2 cup wheat flour / atta
½ cup maida / plain flour
¼ tsp turmeric
¼ tsp salt
water to knead
¼ cup wheat flour / atta
oil / ghee for roasting
