India take on Australia in the first One-Day International at WACA, Perth on Tuesday.
It is the first match of the five-match ODI series between Australia and India, which will be followed by three-match Twenty International series.
The India-Australia contests are counted amongst the most entertaining rivalry in cricket
The last time they faced in an ODI was the semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 at Melbourne in March 2015.That match turned into a forgetful one for the Indian fans as the hosts brought India’s reign as the world champions to an end.
Australia have announced their playing XI for the first ODI a day before the match. They are going to field two debutants—Joel Paris and Scott Boland.
The Australians have decided to go with an all-pace attack for the first match with part-timer Glenn Maxwell being their only option of spin.
Meanwhile, India will announce their final XI on the morning of the match.
Both the teams played 50-over format a couple of months ago. Australia’s last ODI series was against England which the former won. On the other hand, India were shocked at home when South Africa beat them in both—ODI and T20 series in November 2015.
Australia and India won their previous series. While India thrashed South Africa in the four-match Test series, Australia ran over the mighty West Indies 2-0 in the two-match series at home.
While Australia has been under the leadership of Steven Smith
with leadership being entirely different for India in Test and limited-overs cricket, it will be crucial for them to strike a right balance in the upcoming ODI and T20I series.
