लॉ कमीशन ने UCC पर लोगों से जो राय मांगी थी उसकी अंतिम तारीख बढ़ाकर 28 जुलाई कर दी गई है. अब तक साठ लाख ईमेल और चिट्ठियां मिल चुकी हैं. इनमें तमाम मुस्लिम धर्म गुरुओं और संस्थाओं से लेकर ओवैसी की पार्टी AIMIM ने भी अपनी राय भेजी. एक तरफ सरकार कह रही है जब हक समान तो समान कानून से क्यों परेशान. वहीं दूसरी तरफ कई मुस्लिम धर्म गुरु, संस्था के नुमाइंदों से लेकर AIMIM के मुखिया बैरिस्टर असदुद्दीन ओवैसी तक कह रहे हैं कि UCC आएगा तो इस्लाम और मुसलमान दोनों खतरे में पड़ जाएंगे. ओवैसी के आरोप इससे भी कहीं आगे हैं.

The last date for which the Law Commission had sought public opinion on UCC has been extended to 28 July. So far six lakh emails and letters have been received. In these, from all the Muslim religious leaders and organizations to Owaisi's party AIMIM also sent their opinion. On the one hand, the government is saying that when the rights are equal then why bother with the same law. On the other hand, many Muslim religious leaders, from the representatives of the organization to the head of AIMIM, Barrister Asaduddin Owaisi, are saying that if UCC comes, both Islam and Muslims will be in danger. Owaisi's allegations go further than this.
