संसद और राज्यों की विधानसभाओं में महिलाओं को 33% आरक्षण देने वाला बिल लोकसभा में पेश हो गया है. इस बिल को 'नारी शक्ति वंदन अधिनियम' नाम दिया गया है. महिला आरक्षण बिल 27 साल से अटका पड़ा था. 1996 में एचडी देवेगौड़ा की सरकार में इस बिल को पहली बार लाया गया था. साल 2010 में ये बिल यूपीए सरकार में राज्यसभा से पास भी हो गया था, लेकिन लोकसभा में इसे पेश नहीं किया गया. अब इस बिल को फिर संसद में लाया गया है.

The bill giving 33% reservation to women in Parliament and state assemblies has been introduced in the Lok Sabha. This bill has been named 'Nari Shakti Vandan Act'. The Women's Reservation Bill was stuck for 27 years. This bill was introduced for the first time in 1996 during the HD Deve Gowda government. In the year 2010, this bill was passed by the Rajya Sabha during the UPA government, but it was not introduced in the Lok Sabha. Now this bill has been brought again in the Parliament.
