मोदी सरनेम' को लेकर आपत्तिजनक टिप्पणी के मामले में सूरत की एक अदालत ने कांग्रेस के पूर्व अध्यक्ष राहुल गांधी को आपराधिक मानहानि का दोषी ठहराया है। कोर्ट ने उन्हें 2 साल जेल की सजा सुनाई है। हालांकि, कोर्ट ने राहुल गांधी को जमानत देते हुए सजा के अमल पर 30 दिनों तक की रोक भी लगा दी है ताकि कांग्रेस नेता फैसले को ऊपरी अदालत में चुनौती दे सकें। राहुल गांधी के सजायाफ्ता होने और 2 साल की सजा के फैसले के साथ ही उनकी वायनाड से लोकसभा की सदस्यता पर भी खतरा मंडरा गया है।
