11 Memorable Films Of Vinod Khanna

The Indian Film Industry lost one of it's most charismatic and dynamic actors Vinod Khanna to an illness. His rugged persona and charm made him a hot favourite with the hoi-polloi. Here are a few of our favourite Vinod Khanna films.


1) Mere Apne (1971)

Vinod Khanna essayed the role of Shyam a leader of a youth gang who is in constant conflict with another gang. Meena Kumar and Shatrughan Sinha were his co-stars.

2) Mera Gaon Mera Desh (1971)

This 1971 smash had Khanna portraying the role of dacoit Jabbar Singh. He brought a steely menace to his role. Film also starred Dharmendra and Asha Parekh.


3) Achanak (1973)

This 1973 thriller had Khanna playing the role of a highly-respected army officie Major Ranjeet Khanna who commits a murder. The film was partially inspired by the real life case of K.M. Nanavati, a respected officer in the Indian Navy who shot his wife's lover in 1959. The case received unprecedented media coverage.

4) Hera Pheri (1976)

Khanna paired up with Amitabh Bachchan in this a campy Bollywood musical melodrama about faded friendships and family secrets.

5) Inkaar (1977)

Vinod Khanna plays a police detective who helps a wealthy shoe company owner search for the young son of the owner's chaufeur whom was kidnapped by a disgruntled ex-employee and his gang for a large ransom. Film had Shreeram Lagoo, Vidya Sinha and Amjad Khan in key roles.


6) Parvarish (1977)

A successfull masala film which had the Khanna-Bqachchan combination. This masala film was directed by the master entertainer Manmohan Desai.


7) Khoon Pasina (1977)

Vinod played the character of Shera a dacoit with a good heart. This film had the magical combo of Amitabh and Vinod with Rekha there to add the much needed tadka in the film.


8) Amar Akbar Anthony (1977)

Three brothers are separated and united after many years - one is brought up a Hindu, another a Muslim and the last (and most memorable) a Christian. Hilarity and adventure ensues. Vinod Khanna played the role of Amar and together with Rishi (Akbar) and Amitabh (Anthony), this film guaranteed unlimited entertainment and was a BLOCKBUSTER.



9) Qurbani (1980)
This super duper blockbuster had Vinod Khanna playing the role of the parallel lead to Feroz Khan. Both the heroes become best friends who are in love with the super ravishing Zeenat Aman. Who will sacrifice their love and life to solve this triangle? This film had smash music and chilling action and was a great entertainer.


10) Insaaf (1987)

This film marked Vinod Khanna's comeback to films after his Osho phase. Film had Khanna playing the role of an advocate. Dimple Kapadia played the leading lady opposite Khanna. Film was a hit and marked Khanna's second innings in Bollywood.

11) Dayavan (1988)

This film had Vinod Khanna playing the character based on famous underworld don Vardharajan Mudaliar. This one can easily rank amongst Khanna's best perfromances. Film also starred Madhuri Dixit and Feroz Khan.
