Akshay Kumar has won the National Award for Best Actor this year and while Twitterati can’t stop LOLing at the jury’s decision, filmmaker Priyadarshan, who was one of the jurors, has now revealed why Aamir Khan didn’t win the National Award despite delivering a power-packed performance in Dangal.
In an interview to a tabloid, Priyadarshan stated that as Aamir had recently said that he won’t personally accept the award, if he wins, the jury decided to not ‘spoil it for some other actor who stood as good a chance of winning the award’. He also pointed out that Aamir had pulled a no-show, when his film Taare Zameen Par had bagged the National Film Award for Best Film on Family Welfare in 2008.
He further added that Akshay deserved the award and that the decision of 38 jury members cannot be questioned.
