Two months after her death in Dubai, actress Sridevi was named the Best Actress posthumously for her role in revenge drama ‘Mom’ at the 65th National Film Awards.
‘Mom’ released in July 2017 and while the film was not a major hit as such, Sridevi was lauded for her dignified and intense performance as a school teacher, who embarks on a mission of revenge after her step-daughter is brutally gang-raped. ‘Mom’ director Ravi Udayawar said in a statement, “She deserves it. I’m really happy, it’s a great news for me because it was our film. She had done a fabulous job. We all are missing her now.”
The 10-membered panel comprised the likes of Kannada director P Sheshadri, screenwriter Imtiaz Hussain, actor Gautami Tadimalla and lyricist Mehboob among others.
