The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh approved a draft ordinance to curb forcible religious conversions, including those for the sake of marriages between two communities, which could land violators in jail for up to 10 years.

योगी सरकार उत्तर प्रदेश में महिलाओं के जबरदस्ती धर्म परिवर्तन के खिलाफ एक अध्यादेश लेकर आई है. इसमें दो अलग धर्मों के लोगों के बीच होने वाले विवाह को भी रखा गया है और ऐसा अध्यादेश लाने वाला उत्तर प्रदेश, देश का पहला राज्य बन गया है. इसके तहत अगर दो अलग-अलग धर्मों के लोग आपस में विवाह करते हैं और जांच में ये पाया जाता है कि इस विवाह का मकसद धर्म परिवर्तन कराना था तो अपराधी को 1 से 10 वर्ष तक की सजा हो सकती है.
