Foodworks,
Shahi Tukda is a dessert made using white bread, sugar and milk. This Indian bread pudding sweet is from the rich and royal mughal cuisine. The ghee fried bread is being soaked in sugar syrup, layered with rabdi and garnished with chopped nuts such as cashews, almonds and pistachio. Rabdi or Rabri is from reducing the milk to thick creamy consistency and sweetened with sugar. Deep frying bread in ghee, thickened milk and nuts give the rich taste to this delicious dessert. Here I shared the recipe of Jama masjid style Shahi tukda recipe.
The famous dessert Double ka meetha, a bread dessert from hyderabadi cuisine is being confused for Shahi tukra. Both are similar Indian traditional recipes with almost same ingredients. Bread halwa is another bread and milk dish which is so famous in southern part of India especially served in wedding parties, iftar parties and Ramadan time.
