Ever since actor Sanjay Dutt has returned home after serving his jail term, filmmakers are lining up to sign him for their projects. And the latest in Sanju Baba's kitty is the sequel of his 1993-hit Khalnayak. Reportedly, showman Subhash Ghai and Dutt have entered into an agreement to produce the sequel, which is expected to roll by this year-end or early next year.
Speaking to a tabloid, Ghai said that the film will take off with Dutt's character, Ballu Balaram, being released from the jail after 20 years, who finds himself in a completely different world. But circumstances will take him back to the world of crime. Ghai added that he wants to make an intelligent sequel like that of The Godfather which today's viewers can connect with.
The 1993 film also starred Jackie Shroff, who played Ram, a cop in the film, and Madhuri Dixit, Ram's love interest, who goes undercover to nab the fugitive, Ballu. Ghai said that the sequel will also be a multi-starrer with many new characters. He said that as of now no actors have been signed for the film as they are focusing on finalising the script.
Buzz is that the makers intend to retain the two super-hit songs from the film--''Choli Ke Peeche Kya Hai'' and ''Nayak Nahi Khalnayak Hoon Main''.
