A friendly face off between Arti and Anuradha on the occasion of the annual day celebrations of Arti Industries, one realizes the basic character difference between the two women. While Arti comes across as a more serious and cynical person, Anuradha is more romantic and a fun person who believes that falling in love is a natural extension of being young.
'Pighalta Aasman' is the story of Delhi-based businesswoman Arti Singh Rathod (Rakhee), who lives a wealthy lifestyle along with her grandmother and friend and employee, Anuradha (Rati Agnihotri). She decides to travel to Kashmir and take possession of a piece of land that is being occupied by Suraj Arora (Shashi Kapoor). Once in Kashmir, Suraj and Arti fall in love with each other. Soon Arti finds out that Anuradha, too, is in love with Suraj, and how the situation creates complications and awkwardness between the two is the crux of the film.
