Maharashtra Political Crisis Live Updates: The Supreme Court Monday (June 27, 2022) commenced hearing on the pleas of rebel Shiv Sena MLAs, led by minister Eknath Shinde, against the disqualification notice issued by the deputy speaker to them and asked why they did not move the Bombay High Court in the matter.

Earlier, it was reported that Rebel MLA Eknath Shinde had a conversation with MNS chief Raj Thackeray about the current ongoing political drama between the two factions - the Uddhav Thackeray camp and Eknath Shinde camp. Eknath Shinde claims to have the support of 38 MLAs of the 55 Shiv Sena legislators, which is more than two-thirds of the party's strength in the 288-member Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. This allows Shinde to leave the Shiv Sena and form another political party without being disqualified from the state assembly.
