Kangana Ranaut To Play Jayalalithaa In Her Biopic

Kangana Ranaut turns a year older today and on the occasion of her 32nd birthday, the actress made a big announcement. Kangy will be seen playing the role of Tamil Nadu’s former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in her biopic.

The film will be bilingual and is titled Thalaivi in Tamil and Jaya in Hindi. The biopic is being helmed by South's ace filmmaker AL Vijay. Talking about the film Vijay said that Jayalalithaa was one of the most prominent leaders of the country and that making a film on her life is a huge responsibility. He further added that they will be making the film with ‘utmoust care and honesty' and that he is proud to have the very talented Kangana Ranaut on board.

On her part, Kangy said that Jayalalithaa is the one of the ‘biggest female success stories of this century’ and that her journey from being a superstar to being an iconic politician is a great concept for a mainstream film. She said that she is honoured to be a part of the movie.

The biopic is being written by KV Vijayendra Prasad of Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Baahubali and Manikarnika fame, and is being produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shaailesh R Singh.
