Diwali has started spreading a sheer joy of lights, sweetness and happiness in Gokuldham society. Jethalal and family starts this first day of Diwali by getting blessings from champaklal the elder of the family and then jethalal invites all to come to his shop for a puja of Dhanteras which is observed on the 1st day of Diwali. After puja jethalal gifts a box of sweets and a bonus to natukaka. Later, they all leave towards home, but on the half way towards home jethalal realizes that he has forgotten his mobile in the shop and so he decides that tapu and daya to leave and champaklal to accompany him, for which they all agree to it. As champaklal was waiting there, he saw some beggar children’s at them he thought to give them the sweets that he had in his hands. Jethalal comes there and looks around for champaklal but he could not find him and leaves from there assuming that champaklal must have left with daya and tapu. And on the other hand, champaklal assumes that jethalal left him back and went home without informing. When jethalal reaches home he finds that even champaklal did not come with daya and tapu. Knowing this all get tensed and suddenly, Ajay Devgan enters jethalal’s home asking for him. Looking at Ajay Devgan a sudden shock and a mixture of happiness grabs jethalal, daya and tapu who could not believe the truth of Ajay Devgan’s entry in their house.

The show is inspired from the famous humorous column 'Duniya Ne Undha Chasma' written by the eminent Gujarati writer Mr. Tarak Mehta. This story evolves around happenings in "Gokuldham Co-operative Society" and covers topical issues which are socially relevant.The show predominantly revolves around 'Jethalaal' (Dilip Joshi) who is an uneducated Gujarati businessman. Your 'Taarak Mehta' (Sailesh Lodha), is his neighbour. 'Jethalaal' finds a friend and philosopher in 'Taarak Mehta' and often goes to him for advice whenever he is in trouble. Jethalaal's family includes his simpleton wife 'Daya Ben' (Disha Wakani) and a mischievous son 'Tapu' (Bhavya Gandhi). Tapu is a menace and a constant source of trouble to all the members of Gokuldham. They have often warned 'Jethalaal' to reform 'Tapu' or else be prepared to leave the premises. Lost hopes of being heard by his son pushes Jethalaal' to call his father 'Champaklal' (Amit Bhatt) from the village. This was his great idea of leashing some control over the mischievous Tapu. The opposite happens and the grandfather joins hands with the grandson to make life a roller coaster troublesome ride for Jethalaal.
