बढ़ते कर्ज, बढ़ी हुई ऊर्जा आयात लागत, घटते विदेशी मुद्रा भंडार, वैश्विक मुद्रास्फीति, राजनीतिक अस्थिरता और जीडीपी वृद्धि में निरंतर गिरावट से जूझ रहे पाकिस्तान का आर्थिक संकट लगातार बिगड़ रहा है। सरकार के लिए, यह अब देश को पूर्ण आर्थिक पतन से रोकने के लिए समय के विरुद्ध दौड़ है, जो लाखों नागरिकों को गंभीर रूप से प्रभावित कर सकता है। संकट इस हद तक है कि सरकार ने कुछ दिनों पहले अमेरिका में पाकिस्तानी दूतावास की संपत्ति की नीलामी की। सरकार शॉपिंग मॉल, रेस्तरां, शादी के हॉल और बाजारों को जल्दी बंद करने का आदेश देने जैसे कठोर उपायों का भी सहारा ले रही है, उम्मीद है कि यह देश को लगभग 273 मिलियन डॉलर या 62 अरब पाकिस्तानी रुपये ऊर्जा आयात की बचत करेगा।

Pakistan’s economic crisis continues to worsen as the country struggles to cope with mounting debt, inflated energy import costs, dwindling forex reserves, global inflation, political instability and a sustained drop in GDP growth. For the government, it is now a race against time to prevent the nation from a complete economic collapse, which could severely impact millions of citizens. Such is the extent of the crisis that the government auctioned a Pakistani embassy property in the US a few days ago. The government is even resorting to drastic measures like ordering shopping malls, restaurants, wedding halls and markets to shut down early, hoping that it would save the nation around $273 million or 62 billion Pakistani rupees towards energy imports.
