Anurag dons a hat and suit in the kitchen while cooking an Anglo-Indian dish of pish-pash. Priya finds it mildly amusing and calls him Rajendranath. She refuses to taste Anurag’s dish and resorts to having some English tea instead and getting into a discussion of how the Britishers came up with a variety of dishes during the Raj. Anurag refers to a glossary book of Anglo-Indian words called Hobson Jobson that gives the etymology behind them. From modifying Indian dishes to their English counterparts like Khichdi to Kedgeree and Milagu Tanni (pepper water) to Mulligatawny to dishes made for the sahibs like Dak Bungalow Curry and Railway Mutton Curry. The Brits also came up with fairly straightforward onomatopoeic words like – Bobo, Doldol, Kul Kul and Ding Ding for some of their dishes. Anurag sums up with some great spread and delving into their history like Bad Word Curry, Colonel Skinner’s Shrimp Curry, Country Captain Curry and the fiery looking Mother-in-Law’s Tongue Chutney!
