1. The subject and object need to be interchanged.
2. The main verb goes in the past participle form. An auxiliary verb is added to maintain the tense of the sentence, as e cannot change its tense.
3. The doer of the action remains the same even in the passive voice.
Mentioned below are a few examples:
1. Rita narrates a story. (Active)
A story is narrated by Rita. (Passive)
2. This doctor is treating these patients.
These patients are being treated by this doctor ('being' is used in the passive voice, to maintain it in the present continuous tense)
3. The students have played this game.
This game has been played by the students.
4. Why does your brother write such letters?
Why are such letters written by your brother?
5. People speak English all over the world.
English is spoken all over the world.
Note:In the above sentence, 'people' is not used in the passive voice as it is an indefinite noun. Indefinite nouns and pronouns, like they, we someone, people, are not used in the passive voice.
