The Legislative Assembly of Hyderabad is situated within the enclosure of the Public Garden at the heart of Hyderabad city. It was designed by commissioned architects who fused Rajasthani and Persian architecture. It houses the 295 seat Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. It was built out of funds raised by citizens of Old Hyderabad State, on the occasion of the 40th birthday of Nizam Mehboob Ali Khan in 1905. Completed in 1913, it initially functioned as the Town Hall. The new structure for the Legislative Assembly of Hyderabad was conceptualized by Dr M Chenna Reddy, the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. He laid the foundation stone on March 19, 1980.
