Ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026, India have received a significant boost on the injury front as Washington Sundar and Rishabh Pant continue to make encouraging progress in their respective rehabilitation programmes. Sundar, who is part of India’s T20 World Cup squad, has so far completed four batting sessions without experiencing any adverse symptoms and also bowled four overs at moderate intensity with a coastal spot bowling drill on 2 February 2026, responding well to the workload. He is scheduled for another bowling session on 4 February, which will further assess the injured structures’ ability to tolerate load before the next phase of his rehabilitation is planned. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant has shown strong improvement and is now largely pain-free during all functional activities, comfortably handling rehabilitation loads that include strength and conditioning sessions as well as on-field running. The wicketkeeper-batter is expected to begin skill-based work involving batting and wicket-keeping by the end of the first week of February, with his further progression set to be determined based on his response to these initial sessions—developments that collectively offer a positive outlook for India as preparations intensify for the T20 World Cup 2026.
