We all know Sanjay Leela Bhansali is keen on roping in Deepika Padukone to play the lead in his long impending project Bajirao Mastani. But apparently, Padukone is choosing Karan Johar's Shuddhi over Bhansali's magnum opus.

Meanwhile, there is a lot of buzz surrounding the fact that Katrina Kaif is a very strong contender for Mastani's role.

There is no doubt about the fact that Ms Kaif is a star but what SLB needs is an actor for his coveted film. And more than anything, if Kat stars in this period drama, it would be funny to watch her speak in that exotic accent which she is yet to get rid of, while she would be dressed up from head to toe in Indian attire like a Maharani.
