While Naseeruddin Shah is a staunch critic of the BJP and has been opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act and the NRC, Anupam Kher, on the other hand, is a strong supporter of the Bhartiya Janta Party and its policies and the duo recently got into a war of words.

Shah called Anupam Kher a clown, who should not be taken seriously in a recent interview and now, Kher has responded to his comment on him.

He shared a video, with his fans and captioned it, “Janab Naseeruddin Shah saab ke liye mera pyar bhara paigam. Woh mujhse bade hai. Umar mein bhi aur tajurbe mein bhi. Mein humesha unke kala ka izzat karta aya hoon aur karta rahunga. Par kabhi kabhi baaton ka do tuk jawab dena zaroori hota. yeh hai mera jawab.”

In the video, Kher is heard saying, “Janab Naseeruddin Shah saab I saw the interview in which you spoke about me. You called me a clown, a sycophant, who should not be taken seriously and that it’s in my blood. Thank you for your kind words but I don’t take you or your comments seriously. I have never said anything bad about you but I will say it today. You have spent your whole life in frustration despite achieving so much success.”

"If you can criticize the likes of Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan and Virat Kohli, then I am sure I am in great company. And none of them took your comments seriously because we know that it’s not you but the substances that you have been taking since so many years have taken away your ability to differentiate between what’s wrong and what is right. If you can be in the headline for a day or two by criticizing me, then I offer you this happiness. Hope the Almighty keeps you happy.”
