जम्मू कश्मीर की पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री और पीडीपी प्रमुख महबूबा मुफ्ती अक्सर बीजेपी पर हमलावर रहती हैं और इस बार भी उन्होंने पलटवार करते हुए कहा कि बीजेपी ने तिरंगे का भी राजनीतिकरण किया है और अब लोगों को हर घर झंडा फहराने की धमकी दी जा रही है. उन्होंने सवाल उठाते हुए कहा कि क्या यही नया कश्मीर है? महबूबा ने आगे प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी को चुनौती देते हुए कहा, 'अगर आप में दम है तो चीन की ओर से अवैध रूप से कब्जा की गई जमीन के हिस्से में तिरंगा फहराने की हिम्मत करें.' महबूबा मुफ्ती ने कहा कि कश्मीर घाटी में लोगों को तिरंगा फहराने के लिए मजबूर करने से कुछ हासिल नहीं होगा.
