Sanjay Bhansali's dream project Baajirao Mastani was shelved for a long time, as he had visioned Salman Khan as Bajirao and Aishwarya Rai as Mastani for the film.
Since Salman and Aishwarya had a much talked about bitter break up, obviously the project did not see the light of the day. Now, however, Sanjay Bhansali has found his Baajirao in Shahrukh Khan and has decided to start this project again.
If rumours are to be believed it was King Khan himself, who one day landed on the sets of Ram-Leela and showed an interest in playing Bajirao.

The movie will start rolling by June or July as, Bhansali wants the first schedule in the rains. The pre-production work on the film has kicked off. SRK's company Red Chillies Entertainment might co-produce the film with Bhansali.
The actresses of the film have not been zeroed down as yet, but buzz is that Deepika Padukone might be cast as Mastani and Katrina Kaif as Bajirao's wife Kashibai.
