Sidharth Malhotra: No fall out between Varun Dhawan and me
by
Recently there were rumours that the friendship between Sidharth Malhotra and his Student of the Year co-star Varun Dhawan had soured. It was reported that the two had a verbal spat at mentor Karan Johar's birthday party last month and an intervention was staged to sort matters out.
When asked about the fallout with his buddy, Sid says, "This fight was news to me and Varun both! I called him for his Humpty Sharma's promo and he said that he saw Zaroorat from Ek Villain. I said 'bastard you are fighting with me!' and started abusing him (laughs) and he said 'dude I don't know where this is coming from!' So, this fight was something even we didn't know."
He maintains all's well between him and Varun. "It is speculation. Sometimes people want to give out that energy. I think its very passive. Woh 90s ka zamaana tha, wo generation thi when actors were larger than life. Now, the business has changed. There are more films being made, there are more screens, more scripts; we all have enough work and we are all genuinely friendly and have no animosity as such about work," he says.
But can there be friendship between competitors? "There is healthy competition. We all pull each other's legs. We were pulling Arjun's (Kapoor) leg at a party, calling him 'sir sir sir!' as his last film has done so well, that's how guys bash their friends. But it is not like ki 'yaar usko kyun?' There is no such thought.
