Riteish Deshmukh is on a roll. His last film Ek Villain has already crossed the Rs 100 crore mark at the box office and now his first Marathi film Lai Bhaari has turned out to be a crowd puller. Directed by National Award winning filmmaker Nishikant Kamat, the film hit the screens on July 11 and witnessed a thunderous opening. On day 1, Deshmukh's film grossed Rs 3.10 crore nett in Maharashtra and figures remained pretty much consistent over the weekend as well. Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh posted on Twitter today, "#Lai Bhaari [Marathi] has a MIND-BOGGLING weekend. Fri 3.10 cr, Sat 3.60 cr, Sun 3.85 cr. Total -- 10.55 cr. Note: Maharashtra biz only." Now that's a good figure considering Marathi cinema isn't as big as Bollywood. With this film, Riteish has also proved he is mettle as an action hero. Guess he is no longer just a funny man, right Bollywoodlifers?
