Liz Truss: लिज ट्रस अब वो नाम है जो ब्रिटेन की नई प्रधानमंत्री के रूप में जाना जाएगा. कांटे की टक्कर वाले मुकाबले में ट्रस ने भारतीय मूल के ऋषि सुनक को पछाड़ दिया है. कड़े मुकाबले में लिज ट्रस को 81,326 वोट्स मिले तो वहीं ऋषि सुनक को 60,399 वोट मिले हैं जबकि वोटिंग प्रतिशत 82.6 फीसदी का रहा.
किन वजहों से लिज ट्रस इस चुनाव को जीतने में कामयाब रहीं. दरअसल लिज ट्रस पार्टी के भीतर लोकप्रिय नेता हैं. पार्टी के कई सांसद मानते हैं कि वो जमीन से जुड़ी हैं. पार्टी की वेबसाइट की तरफ से जब कभी भी कोई पोल होता था, लिज उसमें टॉप पर नजर आती थीं. 47 वर्षीय लिज ट्रेड मिनिस्‍टर रह चुकी हैं और इसी रोल में उन्‍होंने ब्रेग्जिट मुहिम में हिस्‍सा लिया था. पिछले साल बोरिस जॉनसन ने उन्‍हें यूरोपियन यूनियन के साथ होने वाली बातचीत का मुखिया नियुक्‍त किया था.

Conservative Party leader Liz Truss has been elected as the new Prime Minister of United Kingdom defeating Indian-origin Rishi Sunak in the race. She will become prime minister tomorrow, when she visits the Queen in Balmoral for an invitation to form her UK government. Truss was born in Leeds, city in the county of West Yorkshire, England. She began her career as an economist and accountant with a Conservative membership card as per her website. In 2006, she was elected as a councillor in Greenwich. Then in 2010, she was elected as MP for South West Norfolk. She has had an illustrious career in politics and worked in important areas such as education, environment, and women empowerment.
