The films stars Bollywood Actor Ranveer Singh and Bollywood Actress Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles. Directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and produced by Anurag Kashyap, Ekta Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor, Vikas Bahl with Amit Trivedi giving soulful music. Inspired by O. Henry’s The Last Leaf, the film is set in West Bengal in 1953.

Pakhi (Sonakshi Sinha), an aristocrat's daughter, falls in love with an archaeologist Varun Shrivastava (Ranveer Singh) in Bengal in 1953. However, unknown to her, Ranveer Singh leads a double life that threatens their relationship.
