The trailer of Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu and Sonakshi Sinha starrer Mission Mangal will be unveiled in a few hours. The film is based on India’s Mars Orbiter Mission, and before you watch the trailer we bring you eight interesting facts about India's pride, Mangalyaan.
1. Mangalyaan was ISRO’s first interplanetary mission and with it, India became the first Asian country to reach Mars.
2. India also became the first nation in the world to reach Mars in its maiden attempt.
3. ISRO is only the fourth space agency to reach Mars after Roscosmos, NASA and European Space Agency.
4. Mission Mangal had cost India just Rs. 450 crore. Well, that's quite a small amount considering that an eight lane bridge is made on a much bigger budget. Hollywood films are much more expensive than our Mars Orbiter project. C’mon Saaho has been made on a budget of Rs. 300 crore. It’s the least expensive Mars mission, till date.
5. As it was made at a total cost of Rs. 450 crore, it means that each Indian had to contribute only four rupees for the mammoth project.
6. Although the designed mission life was only six months, the spacecraft is still in good condition and is working fine and sending information from Mars.
7. China called India’s Mars Orbiter Mission, the ‘Pride of Asia’
