Jyoti (Juhi Chawla) belongs to middle-class family and falls in love with an orphan named Prakash. Jyoti's mother wants her to get married to a wealthy family and searches for a suitable groom City advocate Vijay sees Jyoti one day and instantly falls in love with her. Jyoti's mother arranges for her daughter to get married to Vijay and Jyoti ends up sacrificing her love for Prakash. But soon, Jyoti faces problem at her in-laws house.
