कौशांबी में वैष्णव किन्नर अखाड़े में गहराते विवाद के बीच जगद्गुरु हिमांगी सखी पर जानलेवा हमला हुआ, जिसमें उन्हें गंभीर चोटें आईं। आरोप है कि आचार्य महामंडलेश्वर लक्ष्मी नारायण और कल्याणी देवी ने इस हमले को अंजाम दिया। इस घटना के बाद महामंडलेश्वर मुस्कान किन्नर ने सरकार और प्रशासन से सुरक्षा की मांग की है। मुस्कान किन्नर ने आशंका जताई कि मामले की अनदेखी हुई तो उनकी हत्या हो सकती है। बताया जा रहा है कि कौशांबी में इलाका विभाजन को लेकर मुस्कान और कल्याणी देवी के बीच विवाद चल रहा था, जिसके चलते ये हिंसा हुई।
