The film is about the daily lives of people living in a Mumbai chawl. Rajaram, a clerk, is secretly in love with his neighbour, Sandhya but is unable to disclose his love, mainly due to his timidity. One day, his fast-talking friend Bashudev comes and impreses Sandhya to get going with her. However, Bashudev soon comes into trouble because of his flirty nature and his engagement with Sandhya gets cancelled. Rajaram finally expresses his long hidden love towards her and the two come together.
