लखनऊ का नाम बदलने की मांग तो कई साल से चल रही है लेकिन अभी प्रतापगढ़ से बीजेपी सांसद संगम लाल गुप्ता ने केंद्र और यूपी सरकार को चिट्ठी लिखकर लखनऊ का नाम बदलने की मांग की है, उन्होंने तर्क दिया है कि श्रीराम ने लखनऊ का राज्य लक्ष्मण को सौंपा था, इसलिए इसका नाम लक्ष्मण के ही नाम पर होना चाहिए.
