Janhvi Kapoor On Madhuri Dixit Replacing Mom Sridevi In ‘Shiddat’

Late actress Sridevi was supposed to play the lead role in Abhishek Varman’s upcoming film Shiddat however, due to her untimely demise, now, Madhuri Dixit has stepped into Sridevi’s shoes.

To announce the same, Janhvi posted a picture of Madhuri with her mom and along with it, she wrote, “Abhishek Varman’s next film was very close to mom’s heart ...Dad, Khushi and I are thankful to Madhuriji for now being a part of this beautiful film...”

Produced by Karan Johar, the period film is reportedly set in 1940s, during the India-Pakistan partition. We hear that the film also stars Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur.

Had things gone as planned, Shiddat would have reunited Sridevi and Sanjay after 25 years. Sridevi and Sanjay Dutt were last seen together in 1993 release Gumrah. Madhuri and Sanjay have given several hit films like Saajan, Khalnayak and Thaanedar, to name a few.
