Indian Sports Calendar for August 2023: Major tournaments, events to follow this month

Kicking off the month, we have the World Archery Championships from July 31 to August 06, which will serve as a crucial qualification event for the Summer Olympics 2024.

Next on the list, from August 19 to August 27, we have the World Athletics Championships in Hungary. Neeraj Chopra, ofcourse will be the player to watch out for.

Coming to badminton,First up, from August 2 to August 6, we have the Australian Open , followed by one of the major tournaments of the year, the Badminton World Championships in Denmark, from August 21 to August 27.

In cycling, from August 3 to August 13, we have the World Cycling Championships. Top Indian cyclists Esow Alben and Ronaldo Singh will be the main guys to watch out for.

The 132nd edition of Asia's oldest football tournament, the Durand Cup, is set to be a month-long extravaganza from August 03 to September 03. With 24 clubs participating, including teams from Bangladesh and Bhutan, one can expect intense football action.

In handball, the Asian Women’s qualifiers are scheduled from August 17 to August 23. Meanwhile, from August 3 to August 12, the Indian hockey team gears up for the Asian Champions Trophy.
Mark your calendars from August 10 to August 20 for the World Sailing Championships. As for shooting enthusiasts, the ISSF World Shooting Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan, will be held from August 17 to August 31, presenting a chance for our shooters to secure quota slots for Paris 2024. Then there's the IFSC Climbing World Championships from August 01 to August 12.
Moving on to table tennis, we have a series of exciting tournaments in different parts of the world. The WTT Contender will first be held in Lima from July 31 to August 6, followed by Rio from August 07 to August 13. The action then shifts to Kazakhstan, from August 29 to September 03.
For Tennis fans, The North American region will host a series of exciting tournaments in the lead-up to the US Open. Players can take part in the Cincinnati Masters from August 21 to August 27, the Canadian Open from August 07 to August 13, and, of course, the grand finale, the US Open from August 28 to September 10.

Last but not least, from August 19 to August 26, we'll see the Asian Volleyball Championship. As far as cricket is concerned, India will face West Indies on August 1 for the final ODI, and then move on for a 5-match T20 Aug 3 to Aug 13.
