The song is picturised on a puppet show that Radha and Mini are watching on an outing with Ashok Mehra. The lyrics are in Bhojpuri/Hindi. The village belle is complaining about her amour troubling her, drawing a simile with a delicate rose who is being troubled by a bumble bee. Mehra, who is in love with his daughter's governess Radha, imagines her on the stage singing it in reference to him.
'Agar Tum Na Hote' is the story of a wealthy businessman Ashok Mehra (Rajesh Khanna). His wife Purnima Mehra (Rekha) who is expecting, dies after giving birth to a daughter, Mini (Baby Shabana). Ashok Mehra hires a photographer, Raj Bedi (Raj Babbar) to employ a model for advertising his cosmetic product, who employs Radha (Rekha). She incidentally bears strikingresemblance to Ashok's late wife. Bedi falls in love with her and marries her. But then tragedy strikes when he is struck by paralysis and Radha has to work for Ashok as a governess to bring up his daughter. Ashok however does not know that Radha is married and gets slowly attached to her.
