Love blooming between two individuals with diagonally opposite personalities is perhaps the most exploited plot in Bollywood. The freshness hence lies in the telling of the story which Vinil Mathew's directorial debut Hasee Toh Phasee manages to do well.


The plot of the story is simple. Guy Sidharth Malhotra is a smart but wayward bloke. Girl Parineeti Chopra is a smart but wayward neurotic dame. They meet briefly, separate and then meet year's later when guy is about to get married to girl's sister.

Parineeti Chopra, as expected, has done a brilliant job. The young star is growing from strength to strength with every film. Chopra uses her body language and expressive eyes with ease. Sidharth Malhotra complements the unsteadiness of Pari's character with his solid and dishy screen presence. he manages to convey the eccentricities of his clumsy character without going overboard.

Neena Kulkarni as Sidharth's mother and Manoj Joshi as Parineeti's father have done a good job. Adah Sharma plays her part with sincerity and oodles of charm. Vinil Mathew's direction is fine and Vishal-Shekhar's music will leave you humming

All in all, the director propels this predictable story forward by tapping into his lead pair's chemistry and manages to do a fair job at it.
