Doube oscar winner A R Rahman is celebrating his 47th birthday today. Interestingly enough, he shares his birthday with his son Ameen

Born as Dileep Kumar in Chennai, A R Rahman emerged with a new sound as an individual composer in Mani Ratnam's Roja in 1992. The rest, as they say, is history.

In his illustrious career that's spanned a little over two decades, Rahman has rendered music to Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, English and Telugu projects. He received his first oscar for Slumdog Millionaire in 2008 and then again in 2010, for 127 Hours.

His upcoming releases for the year of 2014 are Imtiaz Ali's Highway, Rajinikanth's Kochadaiyaan, Vikram's Ai and Kaaviyathalaivaan. We are eagerly waiting for all of these and we wish this living legend a very happy birthday!
