Emotional Boney Kapoor Cries While Immersing Sridevi’s Ashes In Haridwar

Filmmaker Boney Kapoor performed the Ashti Visarjan of his late wife, legendary actress Sridevi, by immersing her ashes at Haridwar in Uttarakhand, on Thursday.

The filmmaker broke down at one point while the family priests were performing religious rituals. It was veteran actor Anil Kapoor who consoled his elder brother. Uttarakhand’s Agriculture Minister Subodh Uniyal and Haridwar’s Mayor Manoj Garg were also present during the immersion of Sridevi’s ashes in the Ganges.

The 54-year-old actress passed away due to an accidental drowning incident, last month, in Dubai.

Sources close to the family state that the late actress had stopped at Haridwar, during a movie shoot in 1993, and had wanted to return there, ever since. To fulfill her desire, the family decided to immerse her ashes in the holy Ganga after performing a similar ritual at Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu.
