The importance of a proper dress code in the corporate world is often not paid attention to.In today’s competitive corporate world, it is so important to make a good first impression on the interviewers.
WOMEN
Formal dress code for women:Plain colored blouse/shirt with formal trousers or with a skirt of conservative length. Choose dark shades for trousers/skirtlike black, dark brown etc. In winters you could wear a blazer or a conservative suit. Avoid wearing clothes that are transparent and tight fitting. Choose pastel shades rather than loud flashy colors.
Make up: Avoid loud make up. Use subtle shades of lipsticks, browns, pink etc. appealing to your skin tone. Eye make-up should be subtle and less dramatic. Overall the makeup should be simple and elegant and not distracting to the eye. Ensure nails are clean and if wearing nail polish, use subtle shades like browns, pearly whites, pinks etc. Nail polish should not be chipped.
Jewelry: Simple ear studs or pearl drops. You could wear a simple chain with a delicate pendant. Avoid heavy diamond or gold jewelry.
Hair: You could either tie your hair in a neat pony tail or bun, etc. If you choose to leave your hair down make sure your hair is neat and not messy. Avoid any hair from falling on your face or forehead, as it can be distracting
Shoes: Wear low heels so that you feel comfortable. Avoid wearing high heels.
MEN

Tie should be conservative, simple and not too flashy. It should match the color of the shirt or suit. Shirt should be tucked in neatly. Avoid wearing jeans and T-shirts.
Belt & Shoes:Shoes should be clean and polished. Belt should match the color of the shoes. Avoid wearing bright colored funky socks for an interview.The color of the socks should match the color of the shoes.
Hair: Avoid any hair from falling on your face or forehead as it can be distracting. Hair should be neat and clean.
General Tips:
Wear comfortable cotton clothes
Get your clothes ironed and ready a day before the interview.
Nails should be neat and clean
Take care of body odor, use a deodorant after bathing.
Never wear sneakers or high heels for an interview.
Try and arrive ahead of time 10-15 minutes as you could use this time to freshen up before the interview.
