फुटबॉल वर्ल्डकप के 92 सालों के इतिहास में ये पहली बार है, जब इसका आयोजन अरब देश में हो रहा है।फुटबॉल वर्ल्डकप खेलने वाले 32 देशों में से 27 देश ऐसे हैं, जिनकी संस्कृति अरब देशों से बिल्कुल अलग है। इन देशों के खिलाड़ियों और यहां के फैन्स को विश्वकप के लिए, कतर आना है, जहां इस्लामिक रुढ़िवादी नियम चलते हैं। यही इस बार के फुटबॉल वर्ल्डकप आयोजन की, सबसे बड़ी बाधा है।
