सोनिया गांधी ने संसद में ये मांग की है कि चुनाव में सोशल मीडिया के दुरुपयोग पर रोक लगनी चाहिए और Facebook और Twitter जैसे Platforms.. लोकतंत्र को खतरे में डाल रहे हैं। इससे पहले कांग्रेस चुनाव हारने के बाद कहती थी कि EVM हैक कर ली गई हैं। लेकिन इस बार कांग्रेस कह रही है कि सोशल मीडिया Platforms ने लोकतंत्र को हैक कर लिया है। और वो सोशल मीडिया पर चल रहे दुष्प्रचार की वजह से हारी है। ये चुनावी हार का एकदम नया बहाना है।
