Dahej is a 1952 Hindi drama by V Shantaram with Prithviraj Kapoor and Jayshree in lead roles. Thakur makes it clear that he cannot give a dowry for his daughter's marriage. After marriage she has to face harassment at the hands of her mother-in-law who blames her for her father-in-law's death. Thakur sells his ancestral house to get a big dowry for Chanda. But before he can reach his daughter's house a tragedy befalls the young couple.
